Multiple Cops and 911 caller hit in gunfight
In mid December of 2025, a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend was armed and attempting to break into her home in Rochester, New York. When police made contact with the suspect, he opened fire. In the exchange, both officers were hit, as was the 911 caller. At least one of the rounds that hit her came from an officer's weapon. Another pair of officers engaged the shooter while the first pair was being evacuated, and while a third officer was struck, the fourth managed to down the gunman from cover. Viewer discretion is advised. Eric Davis, 38 years of age, was pronounced dead on-scene. The first and third officers hit continue to receive out-patient care, while the second remains admitted in serious condition at an area hospital. The 911 caller has also been released from care.

This compilation of security and bodycam footage from Henderson, Nevada, shows a suspect stealing a heavy construction front-loader. He reportedly threatened to stab a security guard with a screwdriver before taking the vehicle. As the police attempted to box him in, the suspect attempted to crush their cruisers with the front-loader. However, his ramming caused the loader to become stuck, at which point the officers attempted to snatch him from the vehicle. This close-quarters struggle resulted in the suspect and two officers taking a bone-jarring fall to the ground, and the suspect sustaining two gunshot wounds. He is facing trail for a litany of charges, pending his recovery in the hospital. The two officers involved in the hands-on struggle sustained non-life-threatening injuries, which were treated in-hospital. Viewer discretion is advised. The charges against Juan Rincon Carreno, 33 years of age include attempted murder, resisting a public officer with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft, and property damage up to $5K.

This bodycam footage comes from Louisville, Kentucky. Metropolitan Police Department officers are shown responding to ShotSpotter reports of several handgun rounds being fired at a local residence. ShotSpotter is a private security firm which uses technology including acoustic locators to determine when, where, and from what direction gunfire occurs. Within four minutes of the alert, police were on-scene. After a short chase, the suspect- later identified as Asa McNealy, 30 years of age- reached for his handgun and was shot. Although he survived, viewer discretion is advised. McNealy was treated at an area hospital in critical condition. He was charged for wanton endangerment and firearm possession as a felon. Although effective in this instance, ShotSpotter has a somewhat checkered reputation. Despite claiming 97 percent accuracy, testing in Chicago and Boston reported that 89 percent of calls were not due to gun-related crime, and 86 were not crime related at all, with nail guns, helicopters, jackhammers and other tools frequently tripping the alerts. Furthermore, ShotSpot records have been record by police and by the company's employees- a fact which led to the acquittal of at least one suspect.

This combination of CCTV and bodycam footage comes from St. Louis, Missouri. Police officers conducting foot patrols of the premises encountered a loitering suspect. When directed to leave, the suspect instead drew a knife. As he moved toward the officers, an ineffective TASER connection allowed the suspect to further close the gap, at which point another officer used lethal force to neutralize the imminent threat. While an unfortunate end, this video demonstrates the important lesson that while preserving life is always the goal, the TASER doesn't solve all problems. Viewer discretion is advised. The suspect, identified as Darius Kennedy, 31 years of age, died on-scene despite medical care provided. Four shots were fired in total, and no other persons were harmed.

This bodycam and dashcam footage comes courtesy of the Police Department in St. Paul, Minnesota. It shows police attempting to interdict a stolen Buick and its driver. Unfortunately for him, General Motors possesses the ability to track and remotely disable the car. The suspect goes from bad luck to bad decision as he draws a handgun while attempting to flee on foot, at which point SPPD officers open fire. Viewer discretion is advised. Eliot Vaughn, 32 years of age, was struck in the leg. He and a female passenger were taken into custody. After medical care, Vaughn was charged with two counts each of first and second degree assault, as well as one count of motor vehicle theft.

This footage shows police from Oklahoma City attempting to interdict a suspect wanted for shooting several people, two of whom died. Investigation revealed that the suspect was driving a victim's vehicle. However his attempts to elude the police end abruptly when his bid to jack someone's truck gets kinetically rescheduled via the front bumper. As he regained his feet, still in possession of the weapon, an OKC officer shot him. He died of his injuries at an area hospital. Viewer discretion is advised. During his short-lived spree, Deante Hawthorne shot at least three people, and held a further two at gunpoint while carjacking them before the events captured in this video.

This footage from the Los Angeles Police Department shows officers responding to reports that a man was using a length of cable to strike at passers-by. The officers found the suspect in possession of a bunched group of metal wires. Although initially compliant, the suspect eventually charged one of the officers with the improvised whip. Less-than-lethal 40-millimeter rounds proved ineffective as the suspect continued to charge, flailing at the officer with the weapon. This obliged LAPD to escalate to lethal force. Viewer discretion is advised. The suspect, later identified as Hugo Polanco, 56 years of age, was transported to an area hospital where he later died from injuries sustained. No other persons were harmed.

This bodycam footage comes from Houston, Texas. It shows an officer responding to a silent alarm at a local payday loan service on 01 December, 2025. What began as a robbery rapidly evolves into a hostage situation as the suspect walks the employee out the door at gunpoint. It then rapidly de-escalates as the Houston officer drills him twice without hitting the hostage, before a further approximate seven rounds as the suspect attempts to flee with the weapon. The suspect was transported to an area hospital and then to custody, where charges are pending. Viewer discretion is advised. The officer does an incredible job all-around, in terms of marksmanship, professionalism, and generally keeping calm for the benefit of both the hostage of the suspect. We see him providing compassionate and skilled care to the suspect he just neutralized, without so much as raising his voice. "Great work" is an understatement here.

This bodycam footage comes from San Francisco, California, and shows their Police Department responding to a 911 call regarding a suspect in possession of a knife while under the influence of drugs. While he initially complies, the suspect draws the knife when within striking distance of the officers, resulting in his being shot when TASERs fail to stop him. Although the suspect survived the shooting and is in critical condition, viewer discretion remains advised. The initial 911 call came from the suspect's mother. The suspect, identified as Luis Francisco-Manzo, 28 years of age, exited her apartment into a long hallway. The video begins here, showing the officers attempting to verbally de-escalate the situation. Although he initially complies, Francisco-Manzo draws the knife at the threshold. The officers try to create distance, and, crucially, two attempts to incapacitate him with TASERs fail. As he is within striking distance of the officers, non-compliant, and in possession of a deadly weapon, the only recourse left is to shoot him. Luis Francisco-Manzo was transported to an area hospital where, at time of writing, he is in critical condition. Public perception of neuromuscular incapacitation is that it works every time; an "I win" button. But this simply isn't the case, and relying on it can tempt disaster.

This bodycam and dashcam footage comes from Grand Rapids, Michigan. A woman reported that a man was sending disturbing messages to her phone, was armed, and apparently intoxicated. He refused to talk to police on their first attempt at a welfare check, and on the second, he drove away in his truck. Upon being stopped, the suspect opened fire, resulting in a short but ultimately lethal exchange. Despite aid rendered and transport to an area hospital, the suspect died from injuries sustained. After the incident, family members revealed that the suspect had been struggling with the unsolved murder of his son. Viewer discretion is advised. I'm going to take this space to remind you that for a litany of possible reasons, the holidays aren't always happy for everyone. Check on your people, even if they're doing well.

In attempting to make contact with the complainants, the officer spots someone armed with what appears to be a rifle and opens fire. However, the officer manages to shoot two other people who aren't armed, in lieu of his intended target. Viewer discretion is advised.

This compilation of dashcam and bodycam footage shows Seattle Police officers responding to 911 calls regarding a man armed with a handgun- reports which were corroborated by security camera feed. Attempts to negotiate with and de-escalate the suspect rapidly failed as the suspect pointed his handgun at the officers, at which point they opened fire. Viewer discretion is advised. The first officer on-scene used his pistol whilst his backup got out of his vehicle with a patrol rifle. When the suspect pointed his handgun at the contact officer, the contact officer opened fire, downing the suspect. When the suspect refused to drop the weapon, the second officer neutralized the threat with the long gun. While not shown here, the report states that a 40mm less-than-lethal round was used to knock the handgun from the suspect's grasp, in order for the officers to begin CPR and medical aid. Despite these efforts, the suspect was pronounced dead on-scene. A bystander who was injured by shattered glass was taken to the hospital for treatment. No other persons were injured.

I don't normally preface videos like this, but the footage seen here from Bagley, Minnesota, requires viewer discretion. While not especially gory, a Vietnam veteran shoots a flare gun at deputy, forcing another deputy to shoot and kill him. The shoot, and the deputy's emotional response to having to kill the man, are all here, and it's a difficult watch. The psychological toll of taking a life that need not have been taken but for their actions is rarely shown on camera, and needs to be discussed more. Leaving such weight unaddressed is what leads to mental health crises and suicides in turn. Dennis Hoie, a Vietnam veteran at 75 years of age, had outstanding felony warrants for his arrest. When confronted, he fled in his truck, causing a brief chase and Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT maneuver) to be utilized. Deputy Hallman broke the glass on Hoie's passenger side, as Hoie produced a flare gun and fired at Deputies on the driver side. This being lethal force, Hallman responded by shooting Hoie through the broken passenger side window. Despite aid rendered, Hoie was pronounced deceased on-scene. The deputy hit by the flare suffered a non-serious graze to his head. Hallman's emotional reaction to what he had to do is included on this video as he talks with his supervisor before turning off his camera. I hope it was included with his permission, but in any case I'd like to thank Clearwater County for including the often downplayed or ignored facet of what "suicide by cop" can do to the responding officers.

This compilation of 911 call and bodycam footage come from Las Vegas, Nevada. The 911 call provides context for the use of force that follows. A driver at a local apartment complex reported that the suspect had threatened him with a knife. Las Vegas Metro PD officers made contact with the suspect, and the suspect physically and violently resisted. Forewarned by the 911 call, the officers were predisposed to the belief that the object in the suspect's hand, and his movements with it, corresponded to the knife in question. This prompted one of the officers to shoot the suspect. However, the object in the suspect's hand was later revealed to be a vape pen. Although the suspect survived, viewer discretion is advised. The suspect, identified as Wade Griffith, 38 years of age, was found to be in possession of one large, sheathed knife in his backpack, as well as an empty sheath for another knife. At the time of the incident and shooting, Griffith was charged with two counts of armed robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of battery on a LEO with the same, and two counts of resisting with said weapon. With the caveat that I am not a lawyer, given that a vape pen was in his hand I'm not certain that most of those charges will hold up.

This bodycam footage from Kenosha, Wisconsin shows two Police K9s and their human partners taking down a suspect who had fired a handgun into a residence the previous day. His attempt to flee in his vehicle ended up with the suspect on foot in a muddy field. Given that most people can't outrun a K9 on perfect terrain, this guy had no chance. This footage from El Centro, California, shows local police attempting to interdict persons suspected of having stolen a car. However, when the suspects accelerate toward the officers in an aggressive manner, an officer shoots the driver, killing him. Because the driver and suspect was a minor, viewer discretion is advised. A license plate scanner alerted local authorities of plates belonging to a stolen white Hyundai, and police tracked it to a restaurant. When the the officers attempted to move in, the suspects fled. In a bid to escape with the vehicle, the driver aggressively accelerated toward the officers before being shot and killed. When the police officer opened fire, there were two officers directly in front of the Hyundai. Although aid was rendered on-scene by both police and local EMS, the driver was declared deceased. Two other minors, deemed uninvolved with the crime, were in the backseat of the car at the time.
