Rebels slow military advance in Myanmar

Cell phone footage recorded by a rebel fighter near the Yedashe Township in the Bago region of Myanmar shows bits and parts of a brief engagement with military forces conducting a counter-attack. It's unclear from the footage if the fighters won the gunfight or not, but at the end they can be seen transporting a casualty away from the fighting. Yedashe has seen periodic clashes for years due to its strategic location south of Naypyidaw along key routes. In 2025–early 2026, resistance forces, including the Naypyitaw-area PDF units, conducted attacks on junta positions and bases in the township. Today, the junta appears to be launching clearance or counteroffensive operations involving ground advances supported by airstrikes in the region, which is prompting defensive actions by local PDF and resistance groups, and that's likely the broader context to what we're seeing in the video above.
