This bodycam footage from Tucson, Arizona on 10 April 2025 shows the Pima County Sheriff's Department responding to what they believed to be a legitimate 911 call (included in the video). The caller, identifying as one Axeel Melendez, 23 years of age, claimed that his father had just shot his little sister. Believing they were responding to a life-threatening incident, the Deputies made entry and found Melendez' father, gun in-hand. The man was shot, but was transported to an area hospital. Viewer discretion is advised, but here's where the thickening plot twists: investigation afterward revealed no one had been shot and Axeel did not call the police. The man fell victim to a prank termed "swatting"- manipulating police into unknowingly using force under false pretenses, especially entering someone's home. It appears that he had grabbed his handgun because his home was being invaded without any ostensible reason. It's absolutely the wrong decision, but one that's fairly easy to understand, and it puts a tragic exclamation point on an incident that shouldn't happen in the first place. The LEOs are operating under the assumption that he just shot someone, and he is presumably operating under the assumption that the police or someone pretending to be them are attacking. These perceptions collide and someone has to lose the gunfight. The legal line between "prank" and "domestic terrorism" is a blurry one, but it shouldn't be. While we don't have any information at this time on the prank caller, I hope they get every single second of the maximum sentence allowed.

This bodycam footage from San Antonio, Texas, shows local police attempting to interdict a suspect with active felony warrants. It begins in medias res, with an officer catching up to the 31-year-old suspect at a fence line. After a short hands-on struggle, the officer loses his grip on the suspect, which allows him to make space and draw a handgun as he flees. Despite having less than two years on the force, the officer immediately draws and shoots the suspect. The suspect, unnamed at this point, was taken to an area hospital and his handgun was recovered on-scene. This video captures how quickly and dangerously situations can escalate, and the kind of reaction time needed to survive.

This bodycam footage comes courtesy of Jacksonville, Florida and shows two of their officers responding to a call regarding someone being threatened with a firearm. Despite warning commands, the suspect continued to threaten the victim with a handgun. A Jacksonville officer tried to use a TASER to incapacitate the suspect, but it failed, allowing them to fire a round and be shot in response. Although they ultimately survived, viewer discretion remains advised. While neuromuscular incapacitation is a powerful and useful tool, no delivery system to date has a 100% success rate. While the officers' attempt to end the situation without lethal force is doubtlessly grounded in good intentions, it's a very high-stakes gamble. We can see the immediate ballistic feedback associated with that course of action. The suspect, Kiyan Atkinson, 22 years of age, was able to fire a round and was shot several times by both officers in response. Despite all of this, Atkinson managed to reach for their handgun yet again before being taken into custody and treated for their injuries. Although no other persons were harmed, Atkinson was charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder of a police officer.

Multiple video angles show a shootout between police and a gunmen in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood in which a civilian, the gunman, and at least one police officer was killed. Footage shows the gunman armed with what appears to be an SKS rifle while wearing a Rhodesian Brushstroke camouflage shirt. He opens fire on a pair of police officers, hitting one right away. The hit officer leaves a large blood trail as he drags himself to the front of a vehicle before going unresponsive. He is likely the slain officer. A female officer can be seen taking cover behind a large planter, when all of a sudden a civilian makes a lethal mistake and walks up to the crouched officer, surprising her. It appears she shoots and kills the civilian at near point blank range. The gunman sees an opportunity and charges forward toward the female officer. She has a similar opportunity to shoot him as she had on the civilian, but she ducks back down and runs off. The gunman rounds the corner and fires at her with unseen results. It was later reported that she was initially in critical condition, but has since stabilized. It appears a third policeman, briefly seen in the bottom of the frame, may have gotten a better angle and landed some accurate shots on the gunman, neutralizing the situation. Investigators are still searching for motives, but multiple media publications insinuated that the neighborhood was largely Jewish, and possibly the cause for being targeted.

This footage, provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, shows law enforcement in pursuit of a murder suspect. Shortly before, a call to 911 reported that a 65-year-old female and 35-year-old male had been shot by the suspect. A multi-agency team located the suspect, and a chase and gunfire ensued, culminating with the suspect taking his own life. While not especially graphic, this video necessitates viewer discretion due to subject matter. The suspect, identified as Steven Swanson, 32 years of age, was found driving a blue Ford Bronco when police caught up to him. The 65-year-old 911 caller had been severely injured, and the other victim- her grandson- had been killed. Because of the high risk Swanson posed to both the public and officers, spike strips and a PIT maneuver (described in the report as a Tactical Vehicle Intervention or TVI) were used to interdict Swanson's vehicle. However, Swanson opened fire during the takedown before succumbing to a self-inflicted gunshot. Several bullet holes are visible in the State Trooper vehicle. Fortunately, no other persons were injured, although the trooper suffered injuries from glass shards.

This compilation of security, bodycam and cruiser footage shows officers in Pueblo, Colorado attempting to interdict a robbery suspect. This incident occurred on 14 September, 2025. The suspect, later identified as Aaron Vigil, 38 years of age, stole a purse from a woman, as recorded by a security camera. When police attempted to stop the vehicle identified as his, Vigil attempted to flee, but crashed his car. Vigil remained noncompliant and drew a knife. He refused to drop it and insisted on closing distance with the officers, resulting in his being shot. At this point, Vigil began to stab himself until TASER pain compliance made him drop the weapon. Despite aid rendered, Vigil died of his cumulative injuries at an area hospital. Viewer discretion is strongly advised.

Responding to a Robbery In Progress call, which is included here, the LAPD officers found Cynthia Akers, 53 years of age, behind the counter. Akers proved noncompliant despite several opportunities to comply with verbal commands, instead drawing a handgun. The statistics of playing quickdraw with at least 5 cops caught up to her- in no small part because her pistol was later found to be a pellet gun. Despite aid rendered by the officers and LA Fire Department, Akers was pronounced deceased at an area hospital. No other persons were injured. Viewer discretion is advised.

This is somewhat dated footage, from December 13, 2024, but I could not stumble across a teachable moment of this magnitude and let it lie. This bodycam compilation comes from Jacksonville, Florida. An officer pulled over a driver for having run a traffic light. Jason Arrington was fully compliant and let the officer know that as a CCW holder, he had a firearm on his person. Note: he calmly informed the officer and did NOT reach for it. Feeling understandably unconfident in dealing with this scenario alone, the officer made a fair call and requested backup. This is a reasonable thing to do, and the officer had a justifiable expectation of helpful backup. That's not who shows up, to put it bluntly. The responding officer called Arrington out of the truck and, it must be maintained, Arrington was forthright and compliant, and did no wrong. Unfortunately for everyone in this scenario, the backup officer's partner was Officer M. Cardwell, who managed to draw Arrington's pistol with her finger on the trigger and shoot Arringron in the thigh with his own gun and ammo. Viewer discretion is advised.

This compilation of bodycam and traffic cam footage comes courtesy of New Jersey's Jersey City Police. On September 5, 2025, two different units suspected that their vehicles had been fired upon, and converged on a suspect- one Steven Sanchez, 26 years of age, whom they saw in possession of a handgun. Sanchez pointed the weapon at one of the officers, who promptly exited his vehicle and shot Sanchez. Despite his mortal injury, Sanchez charged the officers while firing his weapon (later determined to be a compressed air pellet gun) and attempting to grapple. During the struggle, Sanchez is seen reaching for an officer's handgun, but is overpowered and placed in custody. Despite aid rendered on-scene until EMS arrival, Sanchez was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital. One of the officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Despite the heavy censorship of the video, due to content, viewer discretion is advised.

This security camera footage from El Nuevo Diario, Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic manages to catch a robbery thwarted by the intended victim. As is often the MO in countries where they're popular, a driver on a bike pulls up on a man whom they perceive to be an unsuspecting mark, and the rider in back hops off, using his handgun to intimidate the victim. However, this scenario goes off-script almost immediately. Unfortunately for the would-be robber, one of the items his victim happens to have on his person is a knife, which he introduces to the left side of the criminal's neck with little apprehension. He, in turn, seems fairly confused by the upset; he dithers and retrieves his shoe rather than fleeing immediately. Little is known about the circumstances surrounding this interaction, although social media RumInt suggests the defender with the knife is an off-duty security guard. A photo, purported to be the robber-turned-patient at the hospital, is attached at the end of the video. In the face of power to the point of complacency, speed, surprise and violence of action carry the day.

This bodycam footage from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, shows an officer attempting to make contact with a suspected parole violator on 12 March 2026. The suspect is identified as Jonathan Otto, 35 years of age. The police officer found Otto driving a flatbed truck with a passenger aboard. Otto refused to exit the vehicle and began driving it when the officer tried to remove him. The officer was stuck clinging to the side as Otto drove at a high rate of speed for several blocks. The officer duly warned Otto that he would be shot, and followed through when the suspect refused to stop. Otto was pronounced dead on-scene, and the passenger was unharmed. The officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

This bodycam footage is provided by the Phoenix Police Department in Arizona, and features the 911 call that prompted the incident. A woman called in to report that she had been the victim of domestic violence at the hands of her husband, Jason Arietta. When the police arrived, they saw Arietta on the run with a rifle. He ignored commands to stop and continued to move toward a populated area which included children, so the police opened fire and downed Arietta before removing his rifle. Although he was given medical aid and transported to an area hospital, Arietta later died from injuries sustained. Viewer discretion is advised.

Here, we see officers responding to what was initially a domestic call. The subject, identified as Cleavon White, 47 years of age, began exhibiting erratic, paranoid behavior. This prompted the police and attached social worker to attempt to place White on a 72-hour mental health observation hold, but White resisted. In the ensuing struggle, White grabbed an officer's gun and fired it, at which point he was shot by the other officer. Despite aid provided and rapid transport, White was declared deceased at an area hospital. Due to the subject matter, viewer discretion is advised.

This bodycam and security camera footage comes from Rochester, New York, courtesy of their Police Department. On 20 March, 2026, an officer attempted to speak with a person of interest in a shooting that had happened earlier that day. As he approached the man, the suspect drew a handgun and fired three rounds. The official statement says the officer was struck in the "lower body" but we see him doing an excellent job of immediately affixing his own tourniquet to his right leg. Other officers transported him to an area hospital, where he is expected to be released as his injuries were deemed non-life threatening. Meanwhile, the shooter was caught within a perimeter established by other units and located via a thermal camera on a Department drone. However, closer investigation revealed that the shooter was deceased by virtue of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

This compilation of bodycam and aerial unit footage is excerpted from a press release in Volusia County, Florida. It covers their deputies attempting to investigate Luis Polanco regarding a vandalism call on 02 March 2026. Upon seeing the deputies, the suspect darts inside his home and returns with a handgun, opening fire. The Deputy closest to the door, Deputy Jose Rivera, is hit in the right arm and leg. His body camera was also hit in the ambush. Partner footage shows Rivera having affixed a tourniquet on his own leg, but adrenaline apparently masked his arm wound- only as his backup officers are walking him to the car do they spot and treat the injury. There's much to be said and taught here about the effects of adrenaline and the importance of a thorough patient assessment, but it's hard to fault how well they work together to support his injured limbs and apply a tourniquet on the move. Their support extends beyond the literal- they keep Rivera calm as the adrenaline wears off and the pain that comes with the occlusion of a tourniquet sets in while driving him to the hospital. Fantastic work done in light of awful circumstances. Sheriff Michael Chitwood praised their bravery and restraint, and rightly so. Although this has yet to be substantiated, preliminary forensics suggests the suspect fired 12 rounds whilst following the Deputy. Retrieved AI queries and the suspect's own statements indicate that this was a premeditated, deliberate attack and that the suspect was off of prescribed medication at the time. After the initial shooting, in which Polanco ran out of ammunition, he became compliant. However, in fantastic news, Deputy Rivera, a father of three, is recovering well.

This footage from 26 February, 2026 comes from Yuba City, California shows police attempting to interdict and detain a nude suspect, whom a 911 caller alleged had broken into a home. Less-than-lethal options failed to subdue the suspect, who eventually escaped. The suspect, identified as Guillermo Figueroa, 31 years of age, found a shovel at a nearby house and swung it at the Yuba officers, prompting one of them to open fire. Figueroa was treated on-scene for gunshot wounds and transported to an area hospital, where he was admitted in "critical but stable" condition. Despite censorship and the suspect's survival, viewer discretion is advised.
