Russian executes Ukrainian POWs
Brutal drone footage circulating on social media for the past few days allegedly shows a Russian soldier executing multiple surrendered Ukrainians who are unarmed and laying in the prone position. The Ukrainian troops can be seen laying on the ground, shoulder to shoulder, with their hands behind their head. This is a classic POW position that enables the captor to search the captured troops in a safe manner with complete control. Instead of searching the troops however, the Russian starts shooting them in the back of the head, one at a time. On the pro-Russian side of the aisle, there have been some who say that this is not a Russian soldier, but that it's instead a Ukrainian soldier executing Russian troops. The quality from the recording drone combined with the altitude of the device makes it difficult to positively identify the uniforms of either the executioner or the executed troops. What is clear however is that once footage like this starts to circulate, it starts to become more widespread. Just two days ago, my co-writer Will published a video showing a Ukrainian executing a Russian soldier on his knees. Now, this video is circulating claiming to show a Russian soldier executing Ukrainian POWs. These videos both represent clear evidence of war crimes being committed, but the problem here runs deep. When you're in the middle of the most brutal war in this century, a prison sentence likely doesn't seem all that bad.
