Knife wielding suspect gets shot as victims flee

This footage from O'Fallon, Illinois shows police responding to what was initially reported as a domestic disturbance. Upon hearing that a knife is involved, they instead treated is as an assault in progress. This proved prescient, as when the police arrived, the victims- the suspect's wife and stepdaughter- were fleeing as the suspect followed them with the knife, both having been stabbed. The suspect, later identified as Matthew Blanke, 53 years of age, refused to comply with commands or drop the knife, and was shot as he continued to advance. Despite aid rendered, he was pronounced dead on-scene. The victims were treated at an area hospital for non-threatening stab wounds. Viewer discretion is advised.
