California murder suspect shot at newport beach pier

This compilation of air wing and juxtaposed bodycam footage shows police from Santa Ana, California attempting to apprehend and ultimately shooting a murder suspect on a fishing pier in nearby Newport Beach. Viewer discretion is advised. The suspect, one Jose Velasquez, 45, is wanted as the primary suspect in the murder of a 38 year old woman. He had fled the scene earlier in the day, and the Santa Ana police had caught up with him, resulting in a vehicle chase. From a circling police helicopter, we see the termination of the chase play out on a fishing pier in Newport Beach. With nowhere left to run, Velasquez steps out of his car, pistol in hand. At this point he is simultaneously taken under fire by two officers and downed. He was later pronounced dead on-scene, with no other persons injured.
