Mi-24 lobs rockets at Russian positions

Cell phone footage recorded on the inside of a Ukrainian Mi-24 captures a series of unguided rocket attacks against Russian positions that was released by the Ukrainian pilot, QneskO. Attacks like this were more popular at the start of the war before FPV drones took off amongst ground forces, but are still actively being used today by both sides of the Russo-Ukraine war.

Eerie autumn tank action in Chasiv Yar

This turret footage, courtesy of Ukraine's 24th Brigade, shows a Ukrainian tank advancing toward, and prosecuting targets within, a Russian-held treeline in Chasiv Yar. An ominous fog dominates the scene, lending an eeriness that suits the days leading up to Halloween. From the Russian infantry perspective, it may well have felt like a horror story. The rumble of the engine as the thing gets nearer in the mist. The tank, the metal monster first invented to grind over the horror of war a century ago. The sudden blast as their safety, the BMD armored personnel carrier, is ripped away from them, smoke belching out to mingle with the infernal fog. The cannon barks and barks again as the coaxial chitters. The shells are Death's swiping hand; the machine gun is his pointing finger. Grizzly work done, the tank pads backward into the fog, like Grendel returning to his lair.

Drone ambush surprises Russians

Lying in wait like a cheetah on the Serengeti, a Ukrainian Security Service's (SBU) drone pounces from the roadside and chases down a Russian utility vehicle loaded with personnel. At least one of the Russians is able to bail, the rest of them do not appear as lucky.

Ammo cache detonated by drone attack

Drone footage released by Russian sources shows the destruction of a Ukrainian ammo cache near the village of Glushchenkovo. No further context was released with this footage.

Signum targets logistics and troop movements

FPV drone footage released by the Ukrainian Signum Drone Unit shows a pair of FPV strikes against Russian logistics and troop movements. Based on the quality of the footage, we can assume that these were wire-guided fiber-optic drones and not the radio controlled drones. The key tell is that the non-wire guided drones generally have more signal interference in the video feeds.

Mech assault stopped cold by drones and arty

Reconnaissance drone footage released by Ukrainian sources captures the advance of a Russian mechanized infantry unit. The Russians, who were attempting to conduct an attack on Ukrainian positions near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, find themselves being stopped cold in their tracks by accurate Ukrainian artillery fire and FPV drone attacks.

Ground drone evacuates wounded Ukrainian under fire

This footage is supplied by Brave1, a Ukrainian think-tank and platform for developing innovative ideas to assist in the defense of Ukraine. Here, just 20 meters from a Russian position in Pokrovsk, we see the 59th Brigade's 11th Battalion evacuating a wounded soldier by means of an Unmanned Ground Vehicle. Although the UGV withstands an FPV drone attack and running over a mine, even Brave1 admits that it is not a perfect solution, having experienced LOS (Loss of Signal) for an hour and a half. Although UGVs are currently comparatively rudimentary, this example paints an example of what CASEVAC may routinely look like in the future.

Russian encampment raided by drones

Footage from the Ukrainian 72nd Motorized Rifle Brigade shows multiple fiber optic FPV drone strikes against Russian bivouac sites in a forested area. There fiber optic cable allows the drones to fly without signal interference in the densely foliated woods and results in effective strikes against the Russians.

Ukrainians use their quad as a counter-measure

Fiber-optic drone footage released by Russian sources captures a strike against a pair of Ukrainian infantrymen riding on a quad-bike. The Ukrainians appear to have clocked the drone prior to the attack, because they make the decision to park in between two trees and abandon the vehicle to its fate. This ends with both Ukrainians making it out of the situation alive because the drone pilot decides to destroy that equipment instead of pursuing the two men.

Engineer unit struck by Lancet loitering munition

Reconnaissance drone footage released by Russian sources shows a Lancet loitering munition attack against Ukrainian engineers building defensive structures near the Oskil river. According to the source, the engineers were building the defensive structures near the village of Buhaivka, which is roughly 8km away from the river.

Evac team intercepted by drone

Footage reportedly from a Ukrainian casualty evacuation team shows the crew dismounting their vehicle as they detect a Russian kamikaze drone approaching from the front. They have confidence the drone is after their vehicles and cargo rather than personnel, so they stay nearby and unsuccessfully attempt to shoot down the approaching threat.

Russian cache deleted by precision strike

Footage shows a Ukrainian precision munition striking an unspecified Russian position under a destroyed rail bridge. One would assume the target was worthy of depleting an advanced guided bomb, suggesting the location contained a weapons and ammunition cache from a nearby river crossing.

Geran targets cluster of Ukrainian troops

Reconnaissance drone footage released by Russian sources shows an attack against Ukrainian troops located somewhere in the Chernihiv region. According to the source of the footage, Geran loitering munitions were used to carry out this attack. No additional context exists for this release at the time of this writing.

Drone smashes Russian pickup truck

Footage recorded inside a Russian military truck driving in Belgorod, Russia, shows the moment a Ukrainian FPV drone makes a direct hit on the vehicle. The cameraman is able to bail from the burning vehicle with undetermined injuries. Ukrainian reports claim one Russian soldier was killed and three were wounded in the incident.

Russian infrastructure targeted by drones

An unspecified Russian industrial center in Belgorod was hit by a Ukrainian FPV drone, resulting in the total destruction of a heavy truck that was hauling a container. Russia and Ukraine have both increased targeting of their foe's civilian infrastructure in hopes that applying economic pressure through targeted destruction will bring about a favorable resolution.

Buk-M1 shoots down Russian cruise missile

Although not exactly designed to shoot down cruise missiles, a Ukrainian BUK-M1 air defense missile system managed to knock a Russian Iskander-K cruise missile out of the sky over the Sumy region of Ukraine.

Retreating infantry exploited by fiber drone

Fiber-optic drone footage released by Russian forces shows an attack against retreating Ukrainian troops in a forest. No further context exists for this footage at the time of this writing.
