French vessel nearly hit by Houthi drone

Footage recorded aboard a French Navy Aquitaine class frigate captures the moment a Houthi attack drone gets close enough to warrant the use of the ship's 76mm OTO Melara Super Rapid gun. Fortunately, the drone was brought down at standoff range, allowing for the device to be dropped harmlessly into the ocean in front of the vessel. I'm sure that the encounter was still much closer than the French sailors would appreciate, however. According to some preliminary reports and rumors online, the choice to let the drone get in close enough for the 76mm gun was made for budgetary reasons. The French Navy did not want to expend a more expensive Aster 15 missile on an inexpensive attack drone coming out of Yemen.

RSF drone takes out Sudanese bomber jet

As the RSF have no Air Force of their own, taking this tactical bomber off of the proverbial board represents a victory in and of itself before even considering the cost of a Su-24 versus a commercial, off-the-shelf quad-rotor drone and a mortar round.

Sudanese drone nails RSF pickup

This footage, from the perspective of the Sudanese Armed Forces, shows a quad-rotor drone being used to drop a mortar round on an RSF pickup truck and crew, quite far below. Despite the distance, the drone operator nails the bed of the truck, in and around which several RSF combatants were sitting. A lone survivor is seen bolting away, visibly and understandably distraught with his hands in the air. Eventually, he and several others return. Ostensibly they are there to help the few still living, but the footage ends.

Sudanese soldiers test new technical

This footage shows members of the Sudanese military using a new MLRS technical. They appear to be in high spirits, both because this is allegedly a new-to-Sudan Chinese MLRS referred to as TAKA-2, and because their targets are supposedly some of the last RSF holdouts in their area of operations. Although RSF appeared to have the upper hand earlier on in the conflict, logistical and air support from outside nations such as Egypt have begun to turn the tide in the Sudanese government's favor.

RSF hostage makes a break for it

This footage shows a mortar round being dropped via drone onto RSF militants in Sudan. What makes this scenario stand out is the presence of a hostage, who appears to be escorted by an approximate five rebels. The strike provides enough distraction for the prisoner to run away. Given that the Sudanese military opted to drop a mortar round, it's not exactly a stretch of the imagination to consider that saving the hostage was probably not the goal here. If it was, this was some finesse work in a conflict that is not normally associated with such. That being said, RSF has been routinely implicated in a litany of human rights violations. Although this video does not confirm whether the hostage actually got away- and, at first glance, this seems unlikely- their decision to make a run for it is certainly understandable.

Colombian mercenary mortarmen in Sudan

This quick clip shows Colombian mercenaries operating a mortar near Al-Fashir City, in Western Sudan. At first glance, one would likely assume that they'd been hired by the Sudanese military, to help quell the RSF rebellion. However that is surprisingly incorrect. These mortarmen are actually working for the rebels. It's likely that the United Arab Emirates are footing the bill, as they have a history of backing RSF. Colombian mercenary organizations have been involved in this conflict in the past, claiming that they were misled by their clients. However, that's an excuse that really only flies the first time.

Cartel drone drops incendiary devices on rival truck

Footage shows a drone from an unspecified cartel faction dropping multiple incendiary type devices onto the pickup of a rival cartel unit. The incident reportedly occurred in northeastern Mexico, but no additional information was provided. Although cartels are often seen with fully automatic military small arms weapons, having military grade explosives seems to be less common. For that, these sicarios are having to rely on homemade, improvised explosive munitions and destructive devices.
