Thailand-Cambodia ceasefire on the brink

The on-going ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia is on a temporary pause after a landmine strike injured several Thai Soldiers conducting a security patrol near the border. For their part, Thailand says that the ceasefire is on an indefinite pause until Cambodia apologizes for the injuries sustained by their troops. Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the injured troops at the border yesterday, while the Thai Army accused the Cambodian military of emplacing the landmines in violation of the on-going ceasefire. The Thai army said one soldier lost his right foot after stepping on a land mine while on patrol near the border in Sisaket province, but the Cambodian military has denied any involvement. As a result of this pause, clashes have once again started to breakout between the two nations. The two Southeast Asian neighbors had five days of combat in late July, and that fighting appears to have resumed in spite of a Trump-brokered ceasefire that took place earlier this year. The footage above was filmed by Thai troops, and it allegedly shows Cambodian troops engaging Thai positions near the border with small arms fire, threatening to send the situation back into turmoil.

Off-brand Humvee gets torched post-ambush in Pakistan

This footage is reported to be the aftermath of an ambush conducted by Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), otherwise known as the Pakistani Taliban, against the Pakistani military as part of the ongoing clash between Taliban-controlled Afghanistan and Pakistan. It's being alleged that TTP elements set this armored vehicle ablaze in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A machine gun, presumably removed from the turret mount, can be seen leaning nearby. Prima facie, this appears to be a Humvee. This initially cast doubt on the whole story, as the only Humvees in this conflict belong to the Taliban. However, the Pakistani military fields the Dongfeng EQ2050, which is literally the export Made In China version of a Humvee. China's PLA saw the Humvee's capabilities in Desert Storm and created the EQ2050 for use and export. In other words, this is a Humvee from Wish or Temu.

Pakistani artillery smacks Afghan Army outpost

This quick clip shows Pakistani artillery being used to attack an Afghan military outpost known as Ashraf Sar. The piece shown appears to be a US-made M114 155-millimeter howitzer, a piece of World War 2-era technology. This is made all the more quixotic by Pakistan's routine use of comparatively advanced technology such as drones and air strikes against other hostile forces. It would appear that the M114 is being used in direct fire at the target, something probably not routinely seen since the Korean war.

Colombian Blackhawk hit by FPV, 12 dead

A Colombian UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was brought down by an FPV bomb drone while the aircraft was inserting counter narcotics commandos into an objective area. According to reports, at least 12 crew members and commandos were killed in the blast and following crash of the helicopter. The incident highlights the proliferation of drones in modern conflict and also emphasizes the change in dynamics wherein a couple hundred dollar drone can be the answer to an opposing force's aviation and greater firepower. The drone was reportedly piloted by remnants of the FARC guerrilla group.

Cambodian redneck engages Thai forces

Cell phone footage published to Facebook shows a Cambodian infantryman engaging with Thai forces. We can tell he is a Cambodian infantryman because he is wearing the national uniform of the Cambodian infantry, complete with a cigarette in his mouth and a cell phone propped up against a rock or something to maximize his drip on Facebook. Just do me a favor guys. Nobody show this to the Americans in Appalachia, or they'll start screaming about cultural appropriation down in the comments section.

Thai M48 Patton lights up Cambodian military

Footage reportedly shows a Royal Thai Army M48A5PI "Patton" tank maneuvering and firing multiple armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds at Cambodian military targets along the disputed border zone. The specific target description isn't known. As the name suggests, the tank rounds are designed to be fired against armored vehicles, but would likely fair well against hardened ground fortifications as well. Yet, their effectiveness against infantry would likely produce mixed results. Note the legacy M60 "The Pig" machine gun mounted in front of the vehicle commander's hatch, perfectly completing the aesthetic.

Thai mortar team setting baseplate

Cell phone footage recorded by Thai troops shows a mortar team establishing their firing position. The first round fired through a mortar tube is used to set the baseplate into the ground, which enables more accurate follow on shots. The difference between this group and other videos showing Cambodian mortar teams is pretty large. While this group looks like just about any standard professional modern military fighting force, the Cambodian mortar teams look like a group of rebel fighters in Myanmar. From the footage coming out of the region, I believe if Cambodia presses their luck and continues to try and fight Thailand in a ground war, their professional military will be defeated pretty fast.

Pakistani military attempts to not embarrass itself

Footage recorded during the recent clashes between Pakistan and India shows an artillery unit at the Line of Control conducting something that resembles a fire-mission. It's unclear how or why this military in particular was capable of getting its hands on nuclear weapons, but that simple fact should be terrifying for the entire rest of the world. These guys are struggling to run an efficient artillery gun line. Now, imagine that they have the keys to a 170 nuclear weapon systems, and the ability to use them should they feel the need to.
